Marrow's Transit, LLC

Small Business Profile:

Cecil’s working his plan!

If you’re starting a transportation
company, then you’d better be a people person. Cecil Marrow, owner of Marrow’s Transit, LLC, is definitely a people person, which is why he ran a successful restaurant for years and is comfortably making the transition to this new venture.

He understands his niche. “I offer hospitality and VIP service at a reasonable price.” The most important thing is the quality of the experience he gives his customers, whether they’re visitors to the Williamsburg Inn or the senior citizens he drives to medical appointments or errands “so they can maintain their independence.” In fact, it was his high level of service that impressed Joni Stevens, concierge at the Williamsburg Inn and one of his greatest supporters.

     Good intentions and personality
aren’t enough, and Marrow is ensuring he makes wise decisions and plans strategically by taking advantage of the benefits and resources he gets from his Alliance membership. Networking is essential, and he tries to go to as many BAHs as possible. “So much of this business is word of mouth.

Networking only works if your business is sound, so he has taken advantage of the free counseling, at the Alliance, offered by SCORE. He credits counselor Ned Logan and his wife, Ruthie – “make sure you mention Ruthie,” he insists – with helping him create a strong business plan. “Ned and
Ruthie have been wonderful advocates.

Marrow has also upgraded to a tourism membership. This additional investment is invaluable to his marketing efforts. “It’s an opportunity to broaden my scope.” He will be listed in the new Vacation Planner and on the website where he will reach countless potential
customers – all included in his dues.
