Bottle Shock at the Kimball Theatre

There are certain moments in history when America has proven itself to the world. One such moment never got the recognition it deserved. In 1976, a small American winery bested the exalted French wines of the time and sent the wine industry into a tizzy --putting California wines on the map for good. Based on a true story, Bottle Shock chronicles the events leading up to the famous "Judgment of Paris" tasting. Starring Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman. PG-13.
Metalworking for Revolution: Equipping the American Forces (at the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum)

This is a three-day symposium exploring the role of metalworkers in supplying the equipment needed to fight the American Revolution. Members of Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Trades program and guest speakers will demonstrate these processes and make many of these goods using the 18th-century tools and methods. Comedian Alonzo Bodden at U.C. Chesapeake Ballroom (at The College of William and Mary)

After placing as runner-up on Season 2 of NBC's "Last Comic Standing," Alonzo Bodden came back strong in Season 3 to take the grand prize. In 2007, he went on to become a series regular judge on Season 5 of the show. His movie roles include parts in Scary Movie 4, Bringing Down the House and The Girl Next Door. On television, he has played a bouncer/crook/security guard/cop on "Angel," "Grounded for life" and "Profiler." He is currently a regular field correspondent on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and the host of Speed Channel's new "101 Cars You Must Drive."

Wild at Heart, a Wildlife Celebration at the Virginia Living Museum

Celebration of the Virginian Indian

Lectures and presentations by noted authorities; Native American arts and crafts; authentic Native American food; and much more! The lectures and presentations are free and open to the public. Seating is limited. You must obtain a free admission ticket in advance or at registration on the day of the event. Tickets are also required for the Native American Indian foods luncheon at 12 pm and may be pruchased for $10. Seating is limited. The Shipwreck That Saved Virginia Program and Book Signing

8th Annual Bluegrass Fundraiser at the Corner Pocket

This is the 8th Annual fundraiser by the local bluegrass group, Ever Who Shows Up. This very popular community event has raised thousands of dollars for the local food bank, FISH. Admission is $5 and a can of food (or 2 or 3!). An a la carte dinner menu is available from 5 - 7 pm and the music begins at 7. Yorktown Celebrate Christmas: Illumination and Tree Lighting
December 5 at 7 pm
The holiday lights go on and the festive season begins at 7 pm with entertainment at the Victory Monument followed by the Procession of Lights through Historic Yorktown to Riverwalk Landing. The tree lighting ceremony, which includes holiday entertainment and a visit from Santa, begins at 7:30 pm and concludes at 8:30 pm. Free.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum hosts Fertility Statues

"Please Don't Touch - Unless You Want a Baby!" Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Williamsburg will host the third stop of a three year, multi-city international tour of the world famous Ripley's Fertility Statues! The statues, originally from the Ivory Coast, have been linked to more than 2,000 pregnancies! From Dec. 6 through Jan. 1, the statues will be on display in the lobby of the Museum. Would-be parents are invited to come in and touch them for FREE during regular hours.

“From Africa to Virginia” Theme Month at Jamestown Settlement
February 1 – 28
Guided gallery tours and a special gallery brochure highlight the culture of the first known Africans in Virginia, from the kingdom of Ndongo in Angola, and the experience of Africans in 17th-century Virginia. Tours of the museum’s outdoor riverfront discovery area will compare the boatbuilding, fishing and metalworking skills of Africans in Angola with technology used in 17th-century Virginia.

Military Through the Ages at Jamestown Settlement
