What We Do

Representing nearly 800 small, medium and large businesses, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions, the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance aims to advance the best interests of the business community. The Alliance advocates on behalf of the business community, provides educational seminars and creates business networking opportunities so new businesses can emerge and existing businesses can grow. As the destination marketing organization (DMO) we promote the region as a premier year-round travel destination.

Message from Karen Riordan, President & CEO

Welcome to the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance.  Whether you are a new member, a long-term member or thinking about joining us, we want you to know that we value you- your insights, your business experience, your experience and your leadership in our community.

Doing business here in Greater Williamsburg is not like anywhere else.  First of all, we live in an extraordinarily beautiful place.  The quality of life is outstanding, with a family-friendly community that has a low cost of living, low taxes, a low crime rate, and excellent education and health care.

We can never take this for granted and we at the Alliance know that it is thanks to the efforts of many generations of businesses who led the way and worked very hard to make the area what it is today.

The Williamsburg area is a prime business location, in the center of a technology-rich area on the East Coast, halfway between NYC and Atlanta.  It has everything you need to succeed, including close access to two major airports, port and rail, as well as stable, business-friendly government.

We are here to support you – to be your voice and make sure that you get what you need to remain a successful business.  We focus on three areas to achieve this:

  1. advocacy at local, state and federal levels to promote issues important to business;
  2. educational seminars and programs to keep you informed;
  3. networking opportunities to keep expanding and growing your business contacts.

We look forward to seeing you soon at an Alliance event, or feel free to call us or stop by to say hello.
