SummerJam 2012 $5 Event Website This annual fundraising battle of the bands competition has chosen “The Arc of Greater Williamsburg” as the beneficiary of this dynamic and all ages music spectacle this year. Regional bands will battle on the Kimball’s stage in front of judges to see who wins more than $2,000 in prizes and a look by Brain Fuse Records for a possible licensing deal. Headlining act to perform after the competition TBA. All seats $5, and 100% of the profits will be donated to The Arc of Greater Williamsburg, who provides support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through educational, life & job skills, health & wellness, and social & recreational opportunities. Colonial Williamsburg Garden Tours Location: Colonial Williamsburg Event Website "Through the Garden Gate" gives guests the opportunity to venture through the gates to learn about the restored gardens, focusing on the historic documents and archaeological evidence used to create the Historic Area gardens. American Furniture: From Virginia to Vermont Location: DeWitt Wallace Museum Event Website This exhibition in the Elizabeth Ridgely and Miodrag Blagojevich Gallery highlights pieces from three regions: Eastern Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New England. While early furniture forms and styles from these areas were similar during the late 17th through the early 19th centuries, the interpretation and the popularity of designs varied due to differences in local economies, trade settlement patterns, and the religious and cultural backgrounds of the inhabitants.
