Civil War Children New Civil War Program examines lives of children torn apart by fighting. Through the program “Civil War Children,” guests are able to take a closer look at how the War Between the States had a profound effect not only on our nation, but it had a very personal effect on an entire generation of children and their families. Many suffered throughout their lives with wounds both physical and mental and many grew up as orphans or without their fathers. American Furniture: From Virginia to Vermont This exhibition in the Elizabeth Ridgely and Miodrag Blagojevich Gallery highlights pieces from three regions: Eastern Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New England. While early furniture forms and styles from these areas were similar during the late 17th through the early 19th centuries, the interpretation and the popularity of designs varied due to differences in local economies, trade settlement patterns, and the religious and cultural backgrounds of the inhabitants.
