What's Up with the Weather and Climate? Some say "Climate is what you expect, weather is what you get!" Forecasts talk about "highs", "lows", "fronts" and "air masses" all somehow combining to produce rain, sun and wind. We'll explore how different kinds of clouds form, and what they can tell us about the weather ahead; how landforms and water help determine the weather and climate, and how our spinning Earth sets it all in motion. For ages 18+. Register online or call 757-595-9135. April 03, 20127:30 PM |

American Furniture: From Virginia to Vermont This exhibition in the Elizabeth Ridgely and Miodrag Blagojevich Gallery highlights pieces from three regions: Eastern Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New England. While early furniture forms and styles from these areas were similar during the late 17th through the early 19th centuries, the interpretation and the popularity of designs varied due to differences in local economies, trade settlement patterns, and the religious and cultural backgrounds of the inhabitants. A section on painted furniture further demonstrates regional styles and decorative influences. April 01, 2012 - December 31, 201310:00 AM - 7:00 PM |
