2019 Community Christmas Parade

The Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance is excited to announce that the 54th Annual Community Christmas Parade will take place RAIN OR SHINE on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 9 a.m.! (In the case of inclement weather, parade status will be updated here by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 6.)

The annual Community Christmas Parade is the Alliance’s gift to the community promoting holiday spirit and unity among businesses, civic and faith organizations and the general public. The theme for this year’s parade is Jingle All The Way! The parade planning committee is excited to usher in the holiday season with not only a festive theme, but one that is also interactive. This year, the Alliance will be handing out jingle bells to children at various locations along the parade route so they can help ring in the holiday season, while supplies last.

The parade route will begin at Brooks Street and Richmond Road, proceed down Richmond Road through the first block of Duke of Gloucester Street, and make a right on Henry Street. Floats must enter at Compton Drive off of Monticello Avenue beginning at 6:45 a.m. and must be in line by 8 a.m. Participants cannot be dropped off at the lineup area via Compton Drive. Parents dropping off participants must do so on the back side of Kaplan Arena via Ukrop Way ONLY. School buses will enter the lineup area via Ukrop Way off of Jamestown Road ONLY; buses will exit via Dillard Street onto Richmond Road & will proceed to South Henry Street to park in the William & Mary Law School overflow lot. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter the lineup area.

There will be no parking allowed in the lineup or dispersal areas of the parade. No vehicles will be allowed in the dispersal area during the parade and no northbound traffic will be permitted on South Henry Street from 7 a.m. until parade’s end. Parents picking up participants must walk to the dispersal area to do so. After the parade, walking participants will be staged on the lawn of the DeWitt Wallace Museum or with their float in the William & Mary Law School overflow lot.

The judges stand will be at the entrance of Zable Stadium. As a safety precaution, Richmond Road will be cleared of all parked cars for the morning of the parade again this year, with advance notice going out to residents of the area prior to the event. Road closures will begin at 8:30 a.m., so save your spot to watch the parade early!

We look forward to ringing in the holiday season with all of you!
