Education Workforce Development
For advice on starting a business or making your business more successful, the Alliance provides access to the best resource possible: business people who can share their experiences and expertise -- either one-on-one or in small classes.
We also encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities to expand the knowledge and skills of your employees:
Launchpad provides entrepreneurs and startups in the Greater Williamsburg region (James City County, York County and the City of Williamsburg) with the amenities, counseling, and services necessary to grow a successful business.
Learn a new skill, take a refresher class or pass on your knowledge by teaching a class of your own. We are focused on providing our members and community with all the tools needed to thrive and stay ahead of the power curve.
Williamsburg SCORE has been dedicated to providing free small business advice and mentoring services within the Greater Williamsburg Area since October 1985. We have over twenty mentors providing counseling and are one of ten chapters in the Virginia District. Williamsburg SCORE is located in The Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance Building.

We provide more than 60 courses that train over 1,200 adults annually. The Center has been recognized by the state for its training program and many of the courses are articulated with the community college system.
Prepare Care Share
Prepare-Care-ShareSM was developed in partnership with a customer service-training consultant whose work includes Hong Kong Disney and other top-notch attractions. Prepare-Care-ShareSM was created and customized to meet the specific needs of the Historic Triangle. A great marketing effort can get people to visit once, but it's the experience and service that brings them back.
Prepare-Care-ShareSM is a 4-hour high-energy classroom training aimed at customer service (new approaches to handling those awkward situations and difficult people!). It offers an overview of the Greater Williamsburg Area, the amazing history and exciting attractions we have here. In addition it also educates frontline staff on our destination marketing message.
The Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance Williamsburg Area Career Fair is an annual event that offers members of the community a chance to find a career path perfect for them. The event features exhibitors recruiting full time and part time employment as well as multiple resume and interview clinics. The resume clinics allow job seekers an opportunity to edit their resumes and teaches proper format for professional jobs. Mock interview clinics afford an opportunity for professional interviewing skills and help with pre-interview nerves. The Career Fair also features a career speaker. The Alliance is proud to work with the other businesses sponsoring the annual event including: VA Department for Aging & Rehabilitative Services, James City County Social Services, Williamsburg Social Services, and Virginia Employment Commission. Thomas Nelson Community College, another proud sponsor of the event, provides laptops on site to allow job seekers a chance to search for jobs and apply online. This event is free and open to the public. Contact Michelle Williams for more info.
