Donna Martin

Started working at the Alliance in 1997

Donna is the longest tenured employee at the Alliance, beginning her 19th year in July! She was born on Cary Street at the Old Bell Hospital and grew up in a large family in Norge, VA, back when Route 60 was fields and farms until you got to the City limits. She graduated from James Blair High School and married Billy Martin. They have two grown children Courtney and Bill and four precious grandchildren with whom Donna loves to spend time.

What’s the best part about working at the Alliance?
“I love working at the Alliance due to the fact that I grew up here and know so many people that I come in contact with for my work duties.”

What was your first job ever?
“My first job was at my Uncle Charles Minor’s store on Capital Landing Road. I rang up sales for the store. That store has since been razed for a green space for the Historic Area.”

Complete the following: I #LOVEWMBG because
“…of being able to walk into a different century. The area is beautiful and full of history. Where else can you see costumed interpreters of the 18th Century walk the streets with people of the 21st Century.”

BONUS QUESTION! If you could have one superhero power, what would it be and why?
“My superhuman power would be to bring back people that have passed away for a visit.”
